Homer Goes West

On Wednesday, June 9, 2010, my good friend Bill "Homer" Crossett and I head west, our destination: Mount Rushmore. I've known Homer for close to 30 years. We've been neighbors, our wives were pregnant with our first borns' at the same time, our families have vacationed together, dined together and morned together. As long as I've known him, he has enamoured with Mt. Rushmore. Finally, last fall, we decided a pilgrimage was in order. Our good wives have declined to accompany us, citing the demands of employment to mask a general lack of interest. We tried to talk our friend Dave Page into going but family obligations conflict with our trip dates. The up side of Dave not being able to join us is that we will be sleeping in hotels and eating in restaurants as opposed to back-packing rugged terrain, eating trail mix and sleeping on the ground, not to mention there is now little risk of being eaten by a bear.

So we are off to fulfill a life long dream for Homer and you can follow our adventure here. Our current plan is to also visit the Custer Battlefield and any points of interest in between.
